“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.  Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.”
~1st Corinthians 9:24-25~

It is said that sweat in training saves blood on the battlefield.  There is a similar truth for your soul.  Exercise your faith and make it strong to withstand the attacks of the enemy.

LOCAL LAND OWNER JOINS THE CAUSE……

Native Texan Wayne Zwicke teams up with SS American Memorial Foundation offering up his nearby ranch located on the Cibolo Creek for Wounded Warriors to use for kayaking, fishing, and hunting.

Mr. Zwicke learns the needs of the warriors and how important outdoor therapy is from Army veteran Matt Lowell.

Wounded Warriors spent the day kayaking the new Cibolo creek area and ended the day with BBQ graciously provided by Jessica Vordenbaum and Bryan Harris owners of Brietzke Station located in New Berlin TX just a few minutes down the road from the Lazy U Ranch Seguin. As the day ended Mr. Zwicke, surrounded by thankful Wounded Warriors, stated, “this has been one of the best days of my life”!

It is people like Mr. Zwicke, Mrs. Vordebaum and Mr. Harris that make this country great.

A big thank you to all of you!

THE NEWSTAND

ONE OF THE NATION’S LARGEST “FREE OF CHARGE” HOST RETREATS FOR ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY “SPIRITUAL RETREATS” IN 2015-2016.

THE FAMILY CONTINUES TO GROW……

The SS American Memorial continues growing organically by word of mouth, with the first time visit from the wounded warriors of the U.S. Marine Corps Marine Detachment SAMMC this past month.  The Marines enjoyed the day relaxing with lunch provided by local area Bill Miller’s BBQ and gracious volunteers from Wounded Warriors at NEBO.  The ladies of NEBO are a dedicated group –An all volunteer, interdenominational ministry dedicated to offering gratitude and respite to wounded, injured and ill service members, their families and care providers.

Located out of Fredericksburg TX and responsible for putting the memorial on the map with the Warrior Transition Battalion back in 2013.  I cannot say enough for the this group of amazing ladies!

Thanks you for all you do!

BIG GIVE

The SS American Memorial Foundation is engaged in a $150,000 capital campaign for the enhancement of the memorial grounds and lodge to benefit the ACTIVE DUTY military, veterans, and wounded warriors/Fisher House families from the surrounding military installations and VA hospital.  As an educational location, the memorial museum supports American history for military and civilian audiences, focusing on GOD, Family, and Country.

We plan to remodel the lodge facilities to include meeting space for educational seminars that will address needs regarding PTSD, addiction and spiritual counseling.  Other improvements will include an expanded roof of the existing memorial to protect the exterior walls and provide a shaded retreat area for wounded warriors.  Additional improvements will include outside restroom/showers to accommodate the large PARTICIPANT retreats for active-duty military from Ft. Sam Houston, Camp Bullis, and local Air Force bases.  We plan to use $55,000 of the capital campaign to pay off the existing MEMORIAL building debt service.  Additionally, improvements along the river frontage will include primitive camping and kayak/canoe river entry boating ramp.

STAY TUNED FOR FURTHER INFORMATION AS THE DATE GETS CLOSER!
