OLD GLORY HEADER - SSAMEMORIAL

Don’t miss this coming Friday evening’s May 13th “Freedom Friday” as we celebrate Memorial Day early and pay tribute to the those that have given the ultimate sacrifice for this country.  Bring your guitar and invite your friends.

This guest list continues to grow daily at the SS American Memorial grounds with support from the local and state community expanding. Recent guests include Texas Wildlife Association Youth Hunt families for a weekend of spring Turkey hunting. The Lazy U Ranch has been host to the Texas Wildlife organization for over 10 years. It was the Youth Hunt program that provided the education and inspiration to the Russell family regarding the importance of exposing our youth and adults to the outdoors.  This outdoor experience is the foundation for Wounded Warriors in their continued healing process, healing that applies to ALL humans – the outdoors is where we ALL can find peace!

Many firsts continue for the SS American Memorial with the recent arrival of Wounded Warrior Rodger and Carol Benton.  Rodger and Carol arrived and parked their RV for an indefinite stay to help with all areas of the ever growing demands of the memorial and grounds.  In true soldier “can do” fashion they have reached out to the local community for donations to complete new flower beds and garden areas.  —- A big thanks to the Benton family for all their help!

The memorial grounds woke up recently to the sounds of the combat VETERANS MOTORCYCLE ASSOCIATION coming out for a day of R&R.  Over 70 motorcycles rumbled down to the grounds to rally around a newly formed group known as“PREVENT 22” – ramrodded by Wounded Warrior Tim Voss and his wife Justine to create an awareness to the ever-growing suicide rate of our veterans. – Tim is an inspirational warrior that knows first hand the importance of being there for each other in the day to day struggles with PTSD.  – Hooya to Tim & Justine Voss!
